The north-central state has faced relentless attacks by gunmen, with reports of mass killings occurring almost weekly.

On June 14, over 100 people were killed in Yelewata and Daudu communities in the Guma Local Government Area. By Sunday, the death toll had reportedly risen to 200, sparking nationwide outrage.

Several Nigerian celebrities, including 2Baba, have spoken out against the violence, questioning the lack of media coverage and government intervention. 2Baba called for urgent action, while others offered prayers for the affected families.

Iyanya shared a video on Instagram dedicating ‘Joy in Chaos,’ a 2023 song by Holy Drill, to the victims.

The lyrics, which reflect resilience and faith, read: “Christ is my firm foundation/ The rock on which I stand/ When everything around me shaking/ I’ve never been more clear/ I put my faith in Jesus/ He’s never let me down/ Why would he fail now?

“I still got joy in chaos/ I’ve got peace that makes no sense/ And I won’t be goin’ under/ I’m not held by my own strength/ ‘Cause I’ve built my life on Jesus/ He’s never let me down.”

The songwriter acknowledged the country’s collective grief, saying, “I want to dedicate this song to all the people of Benue State. It is trying time for the whole country because we all share your pain. I pray God comforts everyone who lost a friend, a brother, a mother, a father, family member.”
