Peter ‘Mr P’ Okoye, the Nigerian singer, has revealed his plan to release a special refix EP, reimagining old Psquare’s hits in his own style.

Psquare, once one of Nigeria’s biggest music acts, comprised twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye before their 2017 breakup.

Though they reunited in November 2021, their reconciliation was short-lived.

In August 2024, they had another fallout after Paul accused Peter of orchestrating his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

However, Peter denied the allegations and accused Jude Okoye, their older brother and former manager, of diverting millions of dollars from their joint account into a secret company.

In an recent interview with Cool FM, Peter confirmed the refix EP, emphasising that copyright won’t be an issue since he co-owns the original songs.

The singer also revealed that the project will be released before the end of 2025.

“I have a new project called the refix and what that means is that I’m sampling songs from P-Square,” he said.

“You can’t steal what is yours. So I am refixing them the way I would have done it if I did it my way. The refix would be an extended play and will be released before the end of the year.”

Peter also opened up about the freedom of being a solo artiste, adding that he can now express himself better without feeling “limited”.

“There is a joy that comes with being solo now but I will just tell everyone to respect our decision,” he added.

“We have tried it, it isn’t working so everyone is trying to move on.

“… what I’m doing now is what I live doing, being able to express myself, do things my own way.

“I’m sorry, it my not be pleasing to everyone but there were some times when I wanted to do something but I’m limited.”
