Joy Mojisola Raimi of Osun state will be representing Nigeria at the 72nd Miss World pageant.
This year’s Miss World will kick off on May 22, featuring events at multiple locations, including the Shilpakala Vedika, Hotel Trident, and Telangana in India.
The beauty pageant will bring together over 100 contestants from different countries worldwide.
African countries competing for the prestigious crown include Nigeria, Uganda, Tunisia, Togo, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Namibia, Mauritius, Madagascar, Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, Côte d’Ivoire, and Botswana.
The pageant also marks the return of nations such as Albania, Armenia, Equatorial Guinea, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, North Macedonia, Suriname, and Zambia.
Participants will engage in various competitions and charitable initiatives as they compete for the prestigious crown.
The grand finale will be held at the Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Centre (HITEX) on Saturday, May 31.
At the end of the competition, Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic will crown her successor, passing on the Miss World title.
Raimi, who was crowned ‘Miss World Nigeria 2025,’ earlier shared her story of growing up without a mother and facing harassment from her caregiver.
“I was intimidated and harassed by my caregiver who was supposed to stand in as my mother,” she said.
“She told me I would never amount to anything. But I am here today on this world stage doing what I know how to do best. Whatever God has destined you to be, nobody can say otherwise.”
