Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is a condition that happens when cerebrospinal fluid builds up inside your skull and presses on your brain.

The 76-year-old music icon’s management announced the decision in a statement on Friday, citing worsening symptoms that have affected his hearing, vision, and balance.

Joel’s team revealed that his recent performances had exacerbated his condition, leading doctors to advise him to stop performing immediately and focus on recovery through specialized physical therapy.
